This is not what we needed on our second day of paddling this year. I never saw the deer before impact, My wife called DEER, I only lifted from the throttle and it came down from a ridge above the road. I do not even think its hooves made it to the dirt road before the impact. We sure are glad we were in the truck rather than the car for this outing.

Bugger! Rotten luck Charlie, but I'm glad no one was hurt. I hit a deer once in a Miata! I didn't see it until is was too late either.

Anything more than the visible damage?

I have no clue why a deer would be at a full run just after noon time on a nice weather day, she should have been sleeping. But yes we are glad we did not take the Galant, 150# deer coming up the hood with the boats strapped to the roof to resist her from going up and over would not have been enjoyable.
We were not about to load her in the back and bring her home either.

At this time I have not opened the hood, still trying to get through to our insurance company, not sure if this is a comp or a collision covered claim.
Either way the radiator header has been moved, not sure how much yet. There looks to be no damage to the driving lights, those Hella 4000s are stout, they are mounted to 1/4" alloy plate that bent the bumper as well. It looks like the outer section of the bumper is not lined up right.
One of my first things to do is buy a nice new Scheinwerfer from Germany, that is a headlight to us but I buy all my factory lights over there, damn shipping charges hurt.

Let them know the moving object hit you. Makes all the difference in the Comprehensive vs. Collision claim. Deer Running should be covered under comprehensive anyway unless it was standing there or already laying on the ground when you hit it.

Sucks to see the hit, looks like it took it fairly well considering your hood seems to have had some rusting going on. Hope the repair process isn't too painful!!

Good info, I had heard from someone who had been grilled as whether the deer hit them or they hit the deer. I think they answered wrong. In this case, I really never saw the deer, it came from above the right side. Poor thing.

An interesting point to the day, had we left our house 10 minutes later the remnants of a beaver dam 300' above the road let go. We might well have been caught in this.

It was a pretty firm hit, I wonder how much harder it take to set the bag off. Dang insurance company will not answer the phone.

Like a good neighbor.. ... oh nevermind.

Yes. the way you describe what happened is all the difference, it ran right into the front of your vehicle. It's more important that it was a moving deer that ran into you rather than standing there and you came around the corner and hit something that was already there. Make sure you tell them what happened.
