About 40 years ago an auto insurance agent gave me some advice on deer strikes that I have not needed, but will pass along in case you need it:

Many policies do not pay for collisions with animals, but do pay for damage caused by falling objects. If you find this to be the case, you should make certain the adjuster understands that the deer had passed the trajectory peak of his/her leap and was on the way toward Earth when the collision occurred, thereby becoming a falling object.

Seriously........

This was tried in court and the deer was found to satisfy the definition of a falling object. Whether the precedent is now included in coverage or not, I don't know.
