From a whole vehicle perspective, I don't know. I don't have any experience with it. For individual parts, I can't tell much difference other than the package labels.
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

Body Damage is Cool

as the dealer said that these trucks are all now made in Thailand.... even the engines I just returned from Thailand past Friday. Even drove by the Mitsu assembly plant on the way to another customer. does anyone think that there is any concern in reliability or quality for this matter ???? Because of the fact that they are manufactured in Thailand? I doubt there is any difference. All the global vehicle manufacturing plants I have visited in the past years are essentially built to the same standards. Plants are clones. The OEMs don't like to mess with a good process.

Buy the fastest one.
No, seriously. The 6g74 is not so bad a motor, just a few bad examples of the breed. Do not overheat them, though.
Not responsible for advice not taken...

I would prefer the most powerful one
dont know why but I'm leaning more towards the Diesel (even though the Diesel should be more complicated the the petrol)
and the 6G74 -as you said- not SO bad but not very kind to my wallet too, (mind you my Crank Pully Bolt broke 3 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) thats why i scares me
