busted CV boot so I figure I'll go ahead and replace it. I've got it all loosened up and all and got it clear from the inboard flange, but where the axle slips out of the hub area I can't clear the lower suspension arm framework? I've jacked it up to try and adjust the angle of the suspension arm but it seems no matter how high I jack it up the whole truck raises and not so much "flattening" (for lack of a better term) the angle of the arm. If I could "flatten" that angle I think it will clear. I've done this before but I can't remember how I got around this issue. Any thoughts are more than I've got now. Thanks peeps!

Put the tire on and drop it. It seems counter intuitive but it will give you the room to do it. Otherwise try jacking under the lower bj nut but its not as effective. Lastly you could cut 2 studs on the adapter flange and replace them with bolts later. That will buy you some more room to. I ended up doing the last two when I changed the boots on mine. but I wished I had just put the tire on as its easier.

I replaced mine and never took the tires off or even looked at a jack. I had to remove the shock on one side and that was it.

You can just replace the boots if the joints arent creaking. The toyota axles are supposed to be stronger than the Chinese replacements available. Many will tell you to replace the whole thing at $60 an axle though.

Pop in some manual hubs and reduces wear on the boots.

Thanks guy's, I put the wheel on but I still can't get it out. Man I don't know why it just won't clear everything. Even the inboard side will not clear the flange it bolts onto. Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

one more thing, the manual say's to put "match marks" on the axle and the 6 holed flange it bolts onto so you can put it back in the same postion. Does this really matter? and anyway I got a rebuilt axle so the matchmarks don't do anything that I can see. Am I doing something wrong if I don't pay any attention to putting matchmarks on?

Thanks.

That might make a difference for fixing the old one but not for a replacement. Was your old one crunching or making any noise?
If its original it would be worth cleaning up and replacing the boot on. If it was crunchy, toss it of course.

I replaced my boots and the marks I made wore off cleaning them. No detectable shaking or anything
