That might make a difference for fixing the old one but not for a replacement. Was your old one crunching or making any noise?
If its original it would be worth cleaning up and replacing the boot on. If it was crunchy, toss it of course.

I replaced my boots and the marks I made wore off cleaning them. No detectable shaking or anything
