The Rand Paul's followers certainly non-plussed me towards their cause, as the same with this bunch.

Not sure about the state that this took place in, but some states have the name of the county the vehicle was registered in on the plate.

I believe the intent of the statement was that the drivers of the blocking vehicles, not the blocked vehicles, disappeared.

I think groups such as skinheads, neo-nazis, kkk, black panthers and these westboro people are all pretty ridiculous. Note that I did not bother to capitalize any of their group's names.

I say let 'em be. If the westboro clowns are what someone remembers about a funeral, they may need to rethink their own position.

If it makes you feel any better, a fellow Canuck was telling me several years ago he was on some campus (BYU?); our national anthem was being played for some reason; he kept walking. Got some dirty looks. He yells at them "I'm Canadian!!" Kept goin'. He's still a wild man at his old age. Good ol' hippie.

In part I would agree with Brian that the Police over stepped their authority in ushering away the would be Westboro protesters to be questioned. Most jurisdictions have ordinances about public gatherings and require permits. All the issuing jurisdiction has to do is not issue/pull issued permits on days services are being held for fallen servicemen, rather simple to do.

I would also agree with Brian that the Westboro idiots have the right to say what they want to say, but unlike Brian I believe one is responsible for what his/her speech brings down upon them. What people often forget is that our Founding Fathers were also fond of backing up their freedom of speech w/their fists, something that has unfortunately been lost on our so called civil society. The smack down the Westboro idiot got at the gas station was his own fault for mouthing off about his views/why he was in town. Hopefully he learned a lesson, i.e., next time keep his mouth shut, or learn how to defend himself better before he mouths off again. There is something terribly wrong with a society that allows a man to mouth off, and then allow that same man to run to the law for protection/justice when his mouth gets him into trouble.
