Need a Spot
After months of searching I finally bought a 89 Montero LWB. I bought from 3rd owner & it has almost every maintenance record. My plans are to make this the family expedition rig.

What did you talk the guy down to? I saw that thing on Craigslist the other day, it is super clean, I think I remember he wanted 3000? Im in Tucker if you are close and know a good deal about these things.

good find ,,,and it doesn't matter how much you paid for it, with a monty you usually get what you pay for. Most would say paid to much for mine. That was 15 years ago with no regrets.
Check your Harmonic balancer bolt, then go camping.

I picked her up yesterday morning then got her insured & tagged.

I paid $3k but I feel good about it considering I got all paperwork & know what's been done to the Monty over the years (I even have the original pink slip from '89).

It's fully loaded w/ all power options, sun roof, bouncy seat, & LSD. Everything works except the sun roof goes back about 3-4 inches then feels like its hitting something but atleast it doesn't leak.

Love the way it drives & rides!

Sounds just like my '91 I bought last month. Everything works except the sunroof only goes back about 4-5". I absolutely love my first gen. You should upgrade to dual bouncy seats. I think I paid $6 for a bouncy seat base from the Pick Your Part. My favorite upgrade I have made so far is swapping out the OEM Montero steering wheel with a steering wheel off of a Mighty Max. The Mighty Max wheel is smaller in diameter and the design will allow you to see all the switches and gauges.

Congrats on the new ride, it looks great. I can't wait to follow your build.

Nice looking ride.
I don't know if this pertains to the Gen 1, none of mine had a sunroof, but on the Gen 2 the sunroof goes back 2/3 of the way, and stops. When you push the button again, it goes back the rest of the way.

Great looking ride. Something to be proud of!!! There was a lady in my area that had 1 like it about a year ago.... I've been trying to find out what happened to it ever since.
