Need a Spot

Hello I am in debate on what to do. I have a Trooper with the 2.6 and it died do I rebuild it or can i do a swap over to the 3.8 but need to know if it will bolt up to my tranny or do I need to use another type tranny and transfer case ..If i could get some help it would be great. Thanks alot Tom
