Need a Spot
Just wondering if the 89 5-speed is the same as the 86 5-speed. They're both 4 cyl. My 89 has cruise control and EFI

Thanks,

Don

Roll Me Over
I am a bit confused, but that happens when you are drawing Social Security. I "think" that the 86 manual tranny was a 4 speed, not 5. It should bolt up since it is the same block. For the cruise control to work, you would need an 86 tranny from a vehicle that had cruise.

Body Damage is Cool
The '86 has a totally different tranny.
It will bolt up to the motor, but thats about it.
'86 has smaller clutch, different driveshaft lengths, etc.
I would not choose to try and make it work, it will be way less hassle to find the right tranny.
If you happen to be comming through Utah, I have a good tranny you could have!

1987 trooper LS.'94 3.2, SAS,35's , lots of dents and rust. Now, improved, with more dents.
1995 trooper LS. Wife won't let me improve this one.
1996 trooper. I'll need something to modify when the '87 finally rusts away.
