I don't think there is anything to worry about putting the ABS SR axle into your Gen 1,,,you just don't connect any wires up.
The yard in SLO Town is closed on Sat. It is next to the airport. Everthing was still there 3 weeks ago. It's in there cause of blown headgaskets. The axle has 150 K on it.
I'm pretty sure it's a '95 and not a '96 ( I don't see any difference.)
