Not much new to report JB. Have the new heads, and rebuilt short block in the garage. Need to order a few more parts before I can put the engine back together, and I went WAY overboard this year for Xmas for the kids, so that set me back a bit. I need to bug WW and steal a few parts off Lloyd's old engine if he still has it in his garage. I need the rear main seal retainer, and the drivers side exhaust cam gear, since I bent mine taking it off my old heads. And maybe some of the spark plug wire loom on the back of the engine if it is still intact. Then I need to order up some cam seals and caps, new oil pump, and a new water pump, and I should be good to go for reassembly. Shooting for February to stuff the engine in. Depends on cash flow now. Any word on your bushing experiment? Need to figure out what to do with my intake before putting it back on the engine. Either that or I need to buy the updated one, but that will delay me some.

For some reason I haven't been able to get the machine shop excited about making me more bushings. I think my brother expects me to remove and disassemble the first-fixed one to see how it's wearing. That ain't happening until I have another one ready to go on there to take its place (for which I need more bushings!).

If you get to that point, put your old one back on and we can replace it when more are ready. It doesn't take that long.

Sounds like you're not going to make the camping trip?

That sucks.

Will do. My intake bushings seem pretty tight right now, but you're right. It's not a big deal to take the intake off to R&R the bushings later.

Unfortunately, I'm out for the camping trip this time around. Won't have the truck done in time, and I have the kids the weekend the trip is scheduled. I don't get enough time with them as it is, so I can't justify losing my weekend with them to tag along with someone. Ol' what's her name isn't the most cooperative person around. There have been rumblings of a spring Moab trip, so I'd like to be ready for that one if it happens.

Hey J, I actually need to get that motor back to the house here so I can keep cruisin on this motor so I will see what I can do about getting over to the house in the next couple weekends. I would go this weekend but I can't cause I have my whole IFS torn apart so I can cruise it down the highway for one last horrah! I figured after 170K miles and a heavy motor in the front it was time to repack my wheel beerings for the first time, replace the idler arm one last time , get the upper control arm shafts welded again and throw a couple hammers at it.

Cool man! Lemme know if you need some help getting that motor over to your place. The sooner I get a replacement rear seal case on the engine, the sooner I can get it on the stand and start some reassembly.

I'm thinking it will be more towards the weekend of the 21st till I can get over there. I need to get in contact with WW to find out if he will even be home though. JBFP, is your engine hoist still over there?

I ordered my oil and water pumps today, along with all of the cam seals, so if we can scavenge some parts from that engine in the next couple of weeks, I should be good to go for reassembly. Then we can schedule a wrench-fest at my place with BBQ and beer, and get this pig back on the road! I may take a week off from work after all of the parts are gathered to speed up the process.
