With the 6" wide rim, no reason you can't mount some 32x11.5s, 33x10.5s, 34x10.5s, or 35x10.5s (Swamper Bogger). I agree Russell. My point is based on what 'shops' are likely willing to do which I believe is based on what tire manufacturers recommend as a minimum wheel width. For example, most recommend an 8.5" wide rim for my 12.5" wide MT KM2's. That said, a lot of tire shops are still willing to mount them on 8" rims. Not sure how many 'reputable' shops will mount them on 7" wide rims or what the possible dangers there are by doing so (not talking tire wear issues). I did read here that wide tires on a narrow rim 'create poor a bead seal' which is obviously potentially dangerous. As others have already experienced, I too have run wide tires on 'too' narrow rims (8" rims for a 12.5" tire) without issues. My $.02.

Another line of thought here, too: the Montero Sport was available with a 16" rim that fits the Gen I / II Monteros. Michelin supplies an 11-16 to the military, so you could technically mount 38" tires on a Mitsubishi rim.
That rocks, dude!!

http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...;amp;page=0&fpart=1&vc=1^^^ Write up I did on running 34"s stock. The largest USED tire you can run stock is a 34". On the 15x6 stock rims that would be a 34x10.5 LTB, or 34x9.50 TSL. If you want to buy tires new, in all reality 33x10.5 would be the biggest you would want to go. The 34x10.5 and 34x9.5 tires new will rub to the point it will mess up the tread on the tires. I have run new 34x9.5s with a 2" body lift and a t-bar crank in the front, and even then they can rub. I will have fun when I move up to Q78-TSLs (35.5x10.8) on the stock 15x6 rims.

Here is my Raider with 32s: Rubbed slightly on rear frame What offset would I need to fix that rubbing with a 32x11.5x15 tire??? Are there any OEM Mitsubishi wheels that would do the trick? I really like the stock 5 spokes, but I want to run a 32" tire and it's not easy to find 32x10.5x15s...

I'll be upfront and say that I do not like spacers. In a more complex answer to your question, for a leaf spring Montero, you could run a Montero Sport rear axle with disc brakes...is already a slightly wider stance. For the Gen I coil spring, simply replace with a Gen II axle.
Another consideration is the brake system. I did not like how the 32" tires stopped. The wide tire was allowed to wallow around by the narrow stock rim.
I have a painted set of the 5-hole rims that I've considered having rebanded and chromed. This would allow me to control the backspacing, have the 'look and feel' and utilize wider tires.

I hadn't considered the gen2 axles as a solution to this, but now that I think about it, that's not a bad idea.
I will search the forum for some more info on doing it. I've got a few weeks left of vacation before my next term @ school.

Just because you expect it: PIZZA CUTTERS!! I've run 31x1050s on stock genI 6 inchers like lots of others here. I don't think the issue is as much what you can fit, as what you can successfully start and stop, esp if you want/need to go fast, or go slooow...
