Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
This is my newfound '92 SR. I got her for nearly free - but she has one cylinder with 60psi of compression... ouch right? That's the healthiest one! All the rest are under 20psi. She's pretty standard as far as options, no rear locker but she does have bouncy seats & SMH suspension. Hopefully she will get a set of jump seats at some point too. She is going to be a dedicated beach camping/towing vehicle, possibly see road commute duty occasionally when another car is down for maintenance. Oddly enough, she might get better mileage than my Biturbo. Hopefully I can get the heads pulled this weekend. The PO said she was overheated to death. -matthew

Very nice! Welcome. Looking forward to reading about the repair & build up process.
In case you haven't seen it yet, there's a ton of stuff in the FAQ post at the top of the forums.

Well you could always fuel inject your Biturbo, would probably drive a whole lot nicer than that blow through Weber Nice find on that Montero too. I have given allot of thought about a 6G72 DOHC swap into a Biturbo, someday.

Squirting the biturbo should help that engine out allot, Has the LSD worn out in yours yet? And to keep some Montero content, my turbo conversion done 21 years ago has Biturbo fans it. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.vermontel.net/~dcma/Monti1/M1fans.jpg)

I had the scariest ride of my life in a biturbo. The throttle stuck wide open going about 100 Mph. After a bit of a panic I turned the car off, which spit gas fumes all over the mighty hot turbo's and started a massive engine fire. I got it stopped and jumped out. It burned to the ground....

I bet that had your pulse up a few, Maserati had more than a few problems with the Weber in a can. Issues with the pressure regulator on the firewall, overheating and head problems and the Gleason Torsen diff wearing itself to scrap. They did a big upgrade for the later 80s going to injection and changed the radiator and fans after that. I still think they are a sweet car, but I would make changes to one.
