A "friend" of mine has been using a "cosmetic" air clear to pass inspection for years now. Basically, it involves the stock air cleaner, a Sawzall, a short bolt through the top of the cleaner to hold the original wing nut, and a couple of bolts to mount the cleaner in its original position (roughly over the top of the Weber air intake).

With air gaps-o-plenty between the cleaner and carb, it doesn't do too good a job of supplying the engine with clean air - but it's only on there for about 10 minutes every year anyhow! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
