Weak spark on one cylinder #1029510 06/02/11 05:02 AM

Been trying to sort out all the various issues these last few days. y engine runs pretty rough so with the engine running I removed each wire one by one, all cylinders had the same effect except for #1(passenger closest to grill) which made no difference at all in engine RPM. I have replaced the fuel injector with a know good one and no difference. When I pulled the wire and hold it close to a ground it is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than the other cylinders. All the other wires you close hold fairly close to a ground and it rapidly arcs however the #1 cylinder wire must be almost touching the ground and even then it has a weak arc.

The cap and rotor aren't brand new but are in good shape. I will try a new wire and new plug but does anyone have any other ideas?

New wire, cap, rotor. Plug didn't get tested, so why change it?

If that doesn't do it, look for a dirty slot wheel in the crank position sensor in the dizzy...

What he said. You can also use that wire for a different plug and see if the spark intensity changes. If it's still weak, then it's most likely just the wire. Pull the plug and clean it/ gap it. If the spark was weak it may be somewhat fouled.

Did that test and the wire/plug seems fine, looks like it's the #1 outlet on the cap that's not giving a strong spark. I will get a new cap and rotor tomorrow and hopefully that fixes it otherwise, as said above, must be the sensor inside the contributor.
