If a steering dampner is put on steering that has play it is going to magnify the existing steering concerns by removing the smooth operation that the "play" would allow it to have. Possibly even creating a hazardous situation if all forces come into play at the wrong moment/second. They have a velocity sensing valve that only puts the dampening effect into action at higher wheel rim speeds than you can manage with arm strength. Not responsible for advice not taken...
