replaced stock tires and wheels with ultra 164 wheels 16 x 8 and 245 70 16 tires. tire rack said it would work but problem is they hit at more than 30 degrees angle. would a lift solve problem? how high? any other solutions? stock wheels are 16 x 7 with 245 70 16 tires.

A 98 Amigo has coil springs, right? So adding a simple coil spacer or lift springs such as the OME coils for Trooper will lift the rear, and the front ride height can be raised easily by adjusting the torsion bars, up to 3" is not a problem.

As to how high you will need I don't know, I am more of a Trooper guy. But I doubt you would need more than a couple of inches.

My suggestion would be to call Independent4x and ask them what you need...they are straight shooters and have the knowledge and can set you up with the gear.

I bet it is the front tires hitting the rear of the fender well when turning. The '98+ rodeo/amigo has a smaller wheel well and tires hit pretty easy. The best way I found to make tires fit is by cutting off the bits of the car that get in the way of the tires.
Since there is no real way to lift the front of your isuzu, cranking the t-bars may or may not help because you will still be able to compress the suspension the same amount as a stock vehicle. It might rub less, but it will still rub if you hit a bump while turned.
Wheel backspacing is pretty important on the newer rodeo/amigo and I bet your problem lies more in wheel backspacing than anything else.
