is it a direst bolt in? any needed specifics on the np241?

This one is untested as far as I know. At a BARE minimum, you will need to install a super short SYE kit for an output shaft.

a 231CHD will also provide doner parts to beef a 231j

ok, coming from jeep tech guys i ride with, im going with a NP231. they said the 231 is better than the 241, so thats what im going with.

whats a 231 CHD? is that a direct bolt in? I see you're using it, but you're not running Mitsu engine/trans.

Its a heavy duty version of the 231 (thats what the "HD" stands for). The input is not compatible with the mits, but I heard that you can swap the input from a regular 231 into it to make it fit. I had one in my garage for a minute, it looked like case was the right size, but input splines did not match the extra trans I have in the garage.

CHD is a Chevrolet heavy duty NP231. Comes in S10 blazers with 4.3 motors. It will not bolt to a mitsu trans. I run all chevy drivetrain, so that's how I got mine.

6 pinion planetary, and 2 inch wide chain. Ultimate Beef NP231.
