I'm in the middle of my 4D56 swap and ran into this. Can anyone tell me what this plugs into? This harness is from a 92 Pajero. ![[Linked Image]](http://cdalejef.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-Bg9Q2hc/1/L/smugshot8859001-L.jpg)

That looks a lot like glow plug relays.

Yes, the gp relays are in the picture and hooked up but what I'm asking about is the empty plug/socket in the bottom left of the picture.

Ah.
I'll be putting my batteries back in my Paj tonight. I'll try to see where that goes if it's not buried under the intercooler.

is that my old harness?? must be....that whole harness plugs into the glow-plug ECU I'm pretty sure, there are a few other small plugs taped up in the same harness that are for coolant temp gauge etc...but I'm pretty sure that main plug is for the ECU.
I'm not sure if your who I sold me glow plug harness to (it's been a long time), but I sent the ECU with it...

Yep, it's me but that plug is not for the ECU as you can see in this pic... ![[Linked Image]](http://cdalejef.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-fccKfX4/1/L/smugshot772335-L.jpg)

It is a weather pack plug, so I'm betting underhood somewhere, as opposed to inside, but you probably already figured that one... No longer have a 4D56 to check for you...

So this probably wont help much, but, that plug type was used in many mitsubishis for different things. Most commonly, the ecu, but i have pajeros, delicas, d50, maxes, raiders and monteros, and california and non california units as well that I have been tinkering with. Needless to say, i have seen that socket many times. Having said that, it typically is a newer version, late eighties to early and mid nineties from what I can tell, and ususally has one or two wires that are switched hot on the other side. That glow plug control unit has a multi step (overly complicated) timer and voltage drop down, so i would deduce that that is the switched power source that triggers the glow plugs, timer and step downs. So, after all that, we just use a ford starter selenoid, push button and twelve volt plugs. Keep it simple stupid! My factory diesels have a bizzare step down glow plug system that bugs the shite out of me. I prefer my manual plug set up. All that clicking and clunking and heat discharge under the hood freaks me out.
Check out nwmitsubishidiesel.com for fun....

it looks to me that the socket in the harness you are referring to plugs into the IP - I'll check mine tonight, but I have the same one in my 1990 paj exceed LWB, from which I just pulled the 4d56t and dropped into my 87 raider with a bad lower end 4g54b. switching wiring harnesses over past couple days, will let you know.

It's similar to the one for the IP but that's not it. The one for the IP is on down the harness out of the picture. This plug will only reach something that is mounted near the solonids. For now I'm just using a manual setup, hopefully someday I'll figure this harness out.
