So I've been watching this SR all month on craigslist. I've been looking for a good one for a couple years now. Scott beat me to the other nice one around here :p

Anyways, I pretty much just rambling. I called the guy last night and got him down to $3300. Really the only thing holding me back is the color. I really don't like green. My current LS is green and I've become use to it (bought it for $750/no brainer) but just don't know if I want to make a long term commitment on a green one. It is in really nice shape though. Please take a look and provide feedback.

Also, if you guys want to buy it, feel free. I'm on the fence and if someone else buys it then I won't be tempted!

Thanks

Based on the SR badge, it looks like an earlier SR to me (92-93). Also, I don't see the locker switch which should be next to the cigarette lighter to the left of the auto shifter and forward of the transfer case lever in this pic.

I'd pass and look for a mid 90's one (94-96) with a locker and 9.5" rear ring gear (from the 3.5L motor). Alternatively a late 90's model (97-00) with the winter package (should include the locker) and a ring & pinion gear swap to 4.90's would also be a great option.

Oh wow good call! I certainly don't want one without the DOHC 3.5. The main reason I'm looking for an SR is to twin turbo the DOHC 3.5 lol. I'll call him now.

Thanks!

Roll Me Over
Yeah some of the 92/93 SRs didn't have the locker...and weren't they all 3.0L before 95?

I believe the first year for the 3.5 was 94 - I agree that this one looks like a 92-93. I guess that the seller didn't feel that a potential buyer would want to know what year it was or what engine the vehicle had. Two pictures of the tires but none of the engine?

Yeah it's shady. I called him back and he didn't know if it was a 93 or 94. I told him the engines changed in 94 so it made a big difference. He said "Yes this is definately a Mitsubishi engine" lol.

I tried to explain with no avail. He was not willing to send me an engine bay pic. Oh well.

Where is a good place to find SR's. I've seriously been looking for almost 2 years and have not seen one in the entire state of FL on craigslist or autotrader.

Maybe expand your search beyond FL? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

Buy in AZ. We're like Enterprise; we'll pick you up (at the airport, that is).

SR's are not in steady supply, but we do get them cycling through the used car market here. Expand your search to include Phoenix. It's worth a bunch to be able to have a completely rust-free vehicle, and the bonus is that people here don't appreciate that.
