Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just bought a pair of Hella Micro ff fog lights and have a question about the wiring. The instructions are not to clear and don't mention a fuse. However, the wiring diagram looks like there is a 16A fuse but I'm not sure. What size fuse should I use? the lamps are 55 watt each. Thanks, Bob

If you're intsalling the Hella Micro DE's that are the Toyota OEM kit or the kit from Performance Products into an SR5, then you only need to wire-up per the instructions and install the supplied relay into the fusebox. There is no fuse with the kit since the existing wiring is fused.

If you're not intsalling the Hella Micro DE's that are the Toyota OEM kit or the kit from Performance Products into an SR5, then I'm afraid I can't help.

Good luck!

Rick,
Thanks for the reply. It's not the sr5 kit it looks more like a universal kit to fit any car. The truck is actually a 97 LX 450 but with all the recent posts on this forum lately about switches and lights, I thought I'd ask here. Anyway I went to Radio Shack and bought a inline fuse holder that accepts blade-type fuses. I'm trying a 10 amp now but could always increase it to 15 if needed. Thanks again, Bob

Bob,

I have installed these lights on my 4runner and ran a inline (blade-style) fuseholder with a 15 amp fuse. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction.

Bob,

I just checked and there was a 15 amp fuse in the fusebox for the fog lights prior to the kit installation.

reapur,
Yes the LX is nice but I really wanted a Cruiser at first. I came across the LX at a great price and it even had the lockers! I have found that most LX's are in better shape and not abused compared to the Cruisers I saw for sale. Heck, even the insurance was cheaper then a Cruiser because of the factory alarm! The price has come down a bit on the 97 and older Cruisers/LX and I'm really suprised that more 4 runner owners don't consider them seeing that they are getting closer and closer in price to the newer Runners. I have a few pictures but no place to host them. It's basically stock with a GPS, lights and a few other gagets.
Rick,
Sounds good, I'll change it out tonight.
Thanks guys, Bob
