The truck is ready for a new front axle, these 4cyl CV's aren't gonna cut it anymore. After doing the 3.5 swap into my Gen 1 I have A LOT more weight in the front end, especially on a 4cyl front end set up. Smaller brakes, smaller axles, and the torsions bars don't even support the weight very well. So I picked up a Dana 44 today out of a 80 wagoneer with almost all the goodies attached to it. The swap won't happen for probably a little while longer, still need some small stuff and also a 4.88 ring and pinion set for it. Probably gonna invest into some sort of a locker, ARB maybe . I will try to update this often and post pics as well. Any suggestions are welcome. Once I get all of the other stuff together and get the axle pretty much set up, it shouldn't take us to long hopefully . ![[Linked Image]](http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Keverett_85/008.jpg)

Think i can set the record time for a complete SAS? The nissan club has it down to 2 FULL days but they have an experienced crew of 4-5 SASers. I think you and me can do it in one easy day of reckless hacking and precision axle locating

This 94 SR that I have, should I use the axles and front diff out of it in mine. Already have the Gen2 brakes all around, good to go there. The dude who did the 3.5 swap in the Oz forum, he swapped to the longer and newer (read less miles) torsion bars, sound like a good idea to do this? Toasty you were on this thread, what is your ideas? Or would it just be a lot easier to spend the $300 bucks for new Sway-a-way torsion bars for thw heavier engine set-up?

Nice job getting all the accessories with that axle. Should make the swap go smooth. I'll be watching.

Smooth is what we are hoping for. Should be a little bit of time before the cutting and welding starts happening. Some parts need to be gathered still.
As far as a Gen 2 complete set up goes should be fine for some people. I chose SAS cause of my preference of 4 wheeling and also if I was gonna spend the money I was gonna spend it towards a more capable investment.

Well this project took a seat on the back burner for a while. Due to Lloyds projects we have and the sport rebuild I've been trying to finish, spare time is far and few. I ended up purchasing Dat's old sport off of Cap510 a little less than a year ago and it has been a project since then. So it basically has been getting all of the attention. It has slowly been getting there and is just about done, so I figured it was time! IFS Sawzall Gone! Of course, I had to post this one because its awesome. The 3.5 is also getting pulled because when I dropped it in originally I was just hoping that it was gonna actually work so the fact that I was told it burned oil didn't bother me at the time seeing how I really wasn't sure that it was really gonna work. And it's always good to have 4 montero engines just hanging out in your garage just in case right? ![[Linked Image]](http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Keverett_85/SAS%20Project/IMG-20130409-00164_zpsd3e82e08.jpg)
