I run 4.636 rear on my montero sport axle, and 4.56 on my D44 up front... No problems even on pavement.

Must be really rough there in AZ requiring 4WD on pavement.

4.56

Right on thanks, I was wondering but the gear ratio seems close enough not to effect anything to much.Hard dirt or pavement was my main concern.

Ok, im bad about updates. So the axle is in, it steers and is movable on all 4 tires. I still need to work out the brake lines and master cylinder which is minor, probably wont do that until i have the motor and trans back in though. I am currently working on the engine, drop the heads off today at a machine shop to be checked and resurfaced. Should have rhem back in a week or so and then i can start assembling the motor, new timing stuff, gaskets, etc. All the usual crap. Since the original trans in the truck was a 4 cyl auto and i pulled to donate to a toasty project, i will put a late gen 1 auto with a lock up in to work with the 3.5. So i need to still get ahold of that , then its ready for the drive shafts and someother stuff. But its slowly getting there.

I already finished the swap 4 years ago or so. I drove it around for about 2 years until i decided to do an sas and dual transfer cases. I figured with motor out it would be easier to sas it. Plus i needed to pull the motor so i could do valve stem seals and timing belt. So the motor swap is done. Just want a lock up trans behind it now too.
