Went to see it today. pside fdoor won't open, been replaced, window wont. It smells like, well, it smells...
Battery dead, so I jumped it and tried to charge it up enough to crank. Finally got it to turn over, and it fired for about 5sec, and the low oil pressure killed the pump and it died. Not enough batt to crank it again. Went and bought gal of Delo, and jacked it up enough to squiggle under far enough to part the tall grass and get a glimpse of the pan. jbweld on the pside front corner, and old drips of oil. badly done jbweld. bumper lower rear corner steel braces both broken loose at the bumper end, a sign of nose slamming. rock scars on the pan. front tires are smaller than rears (on an awd truck!). It Smells like a scared wet dog who's been rolling in dead shad. Well, close to that. Your nose kind of closes up after a while.
Dump in about 2qts of delo, and try the starter again. get one short run, no knock, never saw pressure on the gauge. runs maybe 10sec, somewhat roughly.
I offered 4bens. It needs 5 9.50-30-15's and some tlc. It has rear air, overhead console with trip computer and compass and oat. Radio works. If the motor works, I got a hell of a deal for a 200buck oil pan. If the motor doesn't work, I find an s10 4wd donor and get two driveshafts made for around 6-700 total.
If this works out, her name will be Quiglet. Google Quigley and you'll see why. I always thought the gen2 astro/safaris were porcine in profile. Oink, oink..

There was a diesel van at the ski resort by the cottage. Heard the clackity-clack, and saw the van nose sticking out in the parking lot, and sitting high for the bumper. Figured it had to be a Quigley so I walked over. The guy was impressed I figured what it was. I was impressed with what it was. Very cool.
Quiglet, I like...

The semi-mythical "W" engine does exist. What fun that would be...

John B. Indeed: I have one. Which is a mixed blessing: My van is fully loaded, and has the thirsty "W" engine, a 3.73 rear end with posi, and AWD. I get about 13.5 MPG in mixed driving, vs. the 18 that other posters are mentioning. And I'm not alone: A friend with a similar van gets about 13 as well.
