I thought I saw lots of communication in the past on the tensioner pulleys since the ones on eBay are $99 and they are 90 or so though mitsubishi parts (and no availability through local parts stores)

Anyways.. I'm sure we've beat this like a dead horse but I thought I'd throw this at the wall.

This is a mitsubishi tensioner idler pulley that everyone seems to think are made of gold:


This is the tensioner pulley for my 2003 Hyundai XG350.. The only difference I can find is that the center is recessed more than the mitsubishi one due to the pulley itself being taller for a wider belt.



FYI - the Hyundai one cost $11 from Rockauto! I'll have to compare it to the pulley that's actually on my mitsubishi.

Put it on and see. You might have to make a spacer for the deeper offset, but it should work fine if has the proper clearence. good find. Let us know how it goes.

The offset is the same as factory actually so It might not even need any spacing. It seems it's "deeper" because the pulley itself is taller by maybe 3/16" at most.

If my tensioner pulley wasn't the hardest one to get to I'd take it apart for the hell of it and put this on, but I bought it for my Hyundai anyway. I will keep the old Hyundai one and see how it fits when I get around to getting my radiator serviced in the mitsu.

There's also a goodyear #4975 (IIRC) that fits width, but needs 5 flat washers behing the pulley to space it out right. Runs like a charm. Costs under $20, IIRC...

IIRC, the idler pulley off the VW 4-cyl OHC engine is a perfect fit, and available at very low price.

I know the goodyear pulley works - no clue on the veebub.

There now is a listing for them at a lot of places now ...I run Mits V6 Caravan pulleys cheaper ez to find ...You needs a few washers and it works fine ...The bearings replaceable on the ones I have too..
