(Aug 31, 2011) - August is usually a sleepy time in Washington. Congress is away on its August recess and many local citizens are also away on vacation. Rush hour traffic is much lighter and if you can find anyone on Capitol Hill, the meetings are relaxed and much longer than the usual 15 minute session. In other words, a more laid back, easy does it time of the year.

Even though the Joint Select Committee only has until mid-November to determine where cuts will be made, the effects of an implementation policy are likely to take longer to show. in any event, there's not much anybody can do about it...
