A properly set up automatic will shift far faster than a manual can be hand shifted in drag racing, and (enough) power makes up for losses through the torque converter.

I've never had a moment of trouble with any of my automatic transmissions in my Monteros.

To each, their own, I guess. If you're not rock crawling, a stick is a lot of fun. I just couldn't keep mine together in my Raider. I've said it before...the KM-145 is no bueno.
