With my truck I sprayed some ether or something like it around the Intake I had leaks.esp at the rear side Butterfly bushing. Plus mine would run OK until up in torque curve then spit/sputter cough from air leaks. I replaced mine with new intake. just gives peace of mind. 1st one had around 126k on truck when replaced.

There is a "fix" and a fix.
The "fix" is to disable the actuator, wire the lever in a fixed position, and seal the shaft bushing with some like of sealant goo, rtv or similar.
The fix is to replace the plenum.

That's what was done to mine, Mx. Maybe we can call that the "fix*".

Who wants to be a guinea pig? Do a set of 5 0-60mph runs with the arm set the way it is now, a set of 5 with the arm fastened all the way the other way, and a set of 5 with the arm halfway. average each set of 5. This will tell us which "fix"ed setting is the right one for power.

Mike, if you're hearing that clicking, according to all I've been able to find out,, including talking to the chief mitsu mechanic in this area, it's time to get that plenum out of there. It's when you hear the clicking that the screws holding the butterfly are in real danger of backing out dropping into your intake at which point you are going to trash some cylinders. The rebuild or replacement of the motor is big money. Best to take care of this sooner than later.

Seer,
I agree with the assesment. My hope is to get it done in the next month. I am just not in a rush to spend $1000!
Looking online it looks like the cheapest I can find the part is roughly $375 and usually plus shipping or tax. Is that about right? Also, anyone make rebuilt versions?

I think I will just go with what eddy said and seal up the ends. Im not so interested in top-end as I am in torque and bottom end.
