I have a pair of Magneplanar MG-1's, if you know what those are.
And I used to have a cassette deck with dbx noise reduction.
I wish I realized what I was doing years ago when I started downloading all my music from the internet. Now I'm stuck with a whole lot of music at 128k. Yuck.
John B. Yeah, my best friend has a dbx compression/expansion box. Never heard of the Magneplanar's but i see they've been around for quite some time ('69?). Nice! I still have (circa 1981) Yamaha M-80 amp, C-80 pre-amp, T-80 tuner, Nakamichi RX-202 tape deck, and AR-9 speakers sitting in the 'den' upstairs. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" /> OK, sorry for the diversion from your thread.

DBX box? Yeah, I've got one. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Cutting edge stuff in its day. I salvaged a set of AR9s from a damn yard sale a couple of years ago. The rubber surrounds on the wolfers had vaporized and the cones were just hanging there. I found a kit on-line that comes with new surrounds, shims for the voice coil and appropriate adhesive for replacement. Plan on the operation taking all day (as in: Step 1 then wait for glue to dry; Step 2 then wait for glue to dry; etc.) Those old boys can suck up almost everything the old 200 watt Harmon-Kardon receiver they're hooked up to can pump out, but they sound soooooo good. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" /> MMMMMMmmmmmmmm...Magneplanar's. Tires are first. I know that tire size of 265/65R/17 are stock. I am planning on 285/70R17 for the upgrade. I posted separately about possible maximum tire sizes for this rig as stock lift and only post reply was 265/75R/17. After visual investigation, these seem a bit small for this truck and want to fill the wheel wells with more rubber. The 285 tires measure a hair under 33" tall and certainly should fit. Hey if the 285 series rub a little OME makes 1 1/2" raised coils for this truck and all 4 can be to my door for under $400. There are quite a few Gen III owners whom I've read are using the ARB lift. Also check if Iron Man or Peders (sp?) also make Gen III springs. Very soon - or simultaneously will be shocks. Who makes replacements? I found Bilsteins for $418 shipped what about KYBs unless I am looking in the wrong places not to be found... Again may need to turn to OME although they generally get a bad rap, similar price as the Bilsteins. Did you try contacting KYB directly to check? After these improvement I'll focus on some interior bits like a GPS or Android tablet and some way to interface my iPod to the current sound system. (any ideas? geez a 6 +1 CD changer such obsolete tech already). Buy an audio deck that supports USB then rip cd's to MP3, load onto a USB memory device and plug it into your deck. This way you don't loose or damage an MP3 player from keeping it in your rig. Yup, been there, done that. My 18 mo. old ipod nano no longer holds a charge from being kept in my rig that whole time. Lastly - being the Limited has an "open" rear differential I'll look on adding either a Locker or Limited slip from an earlier year Gen 3 XLS. Hey - I have a Gen 2 - 9.5" Locker 3rd member sitting in my garage - can the center carrier guts be swapped into the Gen 3? I'll also assume the StarQuest 8" LSD will fit in the front. That is all for now except for the pic (day 1)... Yes an earlier gen III diff will work. I doubt a gen II rear diff will work because I don't believe it will fit in the gen III carrier. Alternatively, I believe ARB makes both front & rear lockers for the gen III. HTH.

if it's your daily driver I'd suggest keep stock tires and get second set of 16"s from earlier Gen3 with tires of your choosing: 285/75 or 255/85. With stock tires you'll save enough in gas to pay for set of tires in year or two plus you won't put extra wear on set of expensive MT tires, as well as 16" tires are somewhat cheaper than 17". Gen 2 locker won't work in Gen 3. Gen 3 has 33 splines on rear CVs. You choice is either ARB if you got the money of like you said early Gen 3 Hybrid LSD. Incidentally I've got set of 16" wheels from my defunct Gen 3 and that same LSD(no carrier) sitting in garage. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> nice rig.

I wouldn't put LSD in the front of full time 4WD rig. Rear locker + traction control will be more than plenty. Save the money for winch.

I agree. Selective ARB Locker in front or open. I didn't realize it is not possible to install Manual Locking Hubs on a Gen 3 until today. An LSD would not work very well in the front of this vehicle. :-(
