Hi all,

I wanted to check in if my SWB montero mpg is reasonable. I just got this rig running not too long and had the opportunity to take it out. It has the 2.6l in it. On the road (city/hwy) I saw 15 - 16 mpg. I took it out last Saturday driving on nonpavement road and saw 13 mpg. I went about 100 miles and had to fill up about 10 gals.

Is this normal?

There's nothing special on the rig. It's stock with 30x9.5 mud tires.

Are your mpg's on city/hwy or offroad?

The 4D56(T) sounds good.

That's normal.
I got about 12-18 mpg with 31s and 9-12 mpg with 38s.

Thats funny. I get to driving and it needs gas and I put it in. Then I drive it til it needs it again. The speedo is off with the 35's so I am not sure what I'm getting, Running 31's your going faster, speedo is slower. So you are actually going further than odometer is saying, so you can only use it as a guide.

With stock alloys and little tires, I achieved 24 mpg with my Raider, once in 2009. With 33" tires and using 4th gear for flatland freeway travel, Raider returned 22 mpg once in 2008, then blew a heater hose. With 31" tires, most of the time I had between 13 to 18 mpg indicated.

My Mighty Max with a stick and turbo, 31" tires and my new lead foot achieves 14 - 16 mpg in town and 18 on the freeway.

All mileage values corrected for oversize tires, cause I haven't changed the drive gears.

I'm getting somewhere in the low to mid 20's with my bone stock Raider. I haven't done any measuring, I don't drive that much.
