The thanks arent needed. Your posting up a how to is thanks enough.
Consider replacing the front seal especially if it's been there for a while... Eventually they will leak.

Im sorry, but what "Front Seal" are you referring to? (oil seal) I ordered the master seal and Gasket set, for the Top End, along with Timing belt, and Water pump Seals and Gaskets.

What JohnnyB said. It's the front main seal which is probably not part of that kit you have. I'd buy the OE mitsu part if you can. Will likely be better quality.

I don't see the heater hoses that come off the back of the heads and go to the firewall. You'll have the intake off it sounds, so may as well change those.
Haven't done the 3.5 SOHC, but on the 3.0 24V, there is a water pipe that connects the heads at the back. Dependind on what all you are doing, you may end up taking it off, in which case you'll need the gasket.
If you are pulling the intake, that means the fuel rail. Get new gaskets and o-rings for the injectors. And while your at that, may as well change the few that are in the fuel rail itself.
Fel-Pro has a kit that is the VC gaskets and the plug tube grommets.
If you haven't changed a TB on a Mitsu 6G7X, the trick when putting the new belt on is to get the belt wrapped from the PS head gear, over to the DS (around the ater pump on the way), around the idler, then when you go to get it on the cranks gear, first turn the crank counterclockwise (as you look at it from the front of the truck) ~1/2 tooth. You will be able to easily get the belt into the gear, then turn the crank clockwise to take up the DS slack.
Get the special tool for the tensioner pulley for the pre-tensioning. If you do it right, the grenade pin on the hydro tensioner will come out with no resistance.
Damn that was fun to type. Makes me want to go out to the garage...

Heed these words especially. You don't want to have one of these hoses rupture after you've put everything back together. (I know what I'm saying here...bag on head. Lazy will bite your ass everytime.)
87 Montero, bought new, by me - 88/89 intercooled Starion Turbo engine- with awesome audio.

How did it go? I just bought a '99 Montero with 96,000 miles and it is still on the original timing belt. I'll be tackling this job in the next few weeks. It would be great to see your video.
