The 98 we just bought has a leak (when we got it)...I crawled under it while running and it appears to be coming from the base of the oil cooler adapter/oil filter mount. Is there a gasket or o-ring there? Is this a common place for a leak?
It is a pretty solid drip when running but not at all if the engine is not running. You seem to indicate your thoughts are it is at or near the filter which is right above this area so you might want to double check for this.
L yes, that is an extremely common leak. i just replaced the TWO o-rings that go inside the adapter. i may have just not tightened the nuts down enough as one is extremely difficult to access.
So, i bought an 01 Kia Sportage. before i even drove it, i nick-named it The Goat.. it has been just like a goat.. stubbern at every corner...

i see two things. A; there are two bolts holding it to the head, like you said. and B; how the heck do you get this thing outta the head with it in the truck???
