The kit ends at the black rubber hose. I bought the flex ducting and Uni foam filter. That flex ducting could be used for dryer hose, similar stuff. I used that ducting because it's got a 3" ID, which fit VERY snugly over the Uni foam filter. The air filter that came with the carb kit was an open rectangular one, so it was taking in hot air from the engine. At least this way, the incoming outside air should be significantly cooler, which should be better for the engine.

I took a short test drive after I installed this kit, and didn't notice any significant change one way or the other. It's not as loud as the open rectangular filter, that's about the only thing I noticed. Before, when I had the left corner dash vent open, I could hear the intake noise from the engine compartment. Now, I don't hear anything coming from the carb.

I'm sure if someone wanted to run an actual snorkel, this kit would be a good way to go. Just have to be sure to put a filter somewhere between the external snorkel intake and the snorkel housing on top of the carb.
