Just installed front 95 LS seats in the 89 ALS Monty ...And was "thinking" there was a rumor that I could replace the stock back seat of my 89 SWB with the two jump seats out of a Gen2..

Anyone tryed this ...?...

Thanks

David

Given sufficient frame construction, this should be possible. I have some internet photos with troop seats in a J-top. I'll post them when I can find 'em.

Just this:

Post some pics of those front sears, I want to do that too. Also if you search SRTNate or my username you will see photos of the install of jump seats in my LWB. If you get the mounting brackets and cut them down they fit perfect and the SWB will have the overhead grab handles needed to stow the seats upright. On top of that you will already have the seatbelts installed. It took Nate and I about three hours to get them mounted.

Yes I have 95 jump seats replacing the stock rear bench in my 89 SWB. I think I got the Idea from MontyMcV. I think I have pics in my 89 build thread. CHeck the links in the criticle threads sticky.

*EDIT* pics seem to have dissapeared. I can post new ones if you want or you can look for MontyMcV's write up. But basically you use the frame from the gen one and weld a 2 1/2" piece of flat stock to the front top of the frame. This allows you to bolt the jump seats to the frame. works great.

Here's my thread.

The pics are linked via my old domain afabot.com, from before mitsubishilinks.com. The DNS server that points afabot to mitsubishilinks was taken offline (old job I had and they shut down their service). I just got it sorted out with GoDaddy DNS and the pics should come back once the settings propagate. That can take 1-48 hours, depending on where your internet provider gets their info from.

Hmm, the pics will come up in a browser for me from the link, but they are not coming up on The Wire. Looks like the Wire's host still hasn't gotten the new DNS.

Here they are with modified links. They will tumble and fold, as long as the front seats are not slid all the way back.

The drop top Montys are cool ...Strange it did not come to America with the love of the convertible in this country..? Must be a DOT thing ...?

Not really looking to put six seats in a SWB ... Was more whating to replace the 89 back seat for two 95 jump seats to match the 95 LS front seat I installed ...

Justice will the seat still fold forward...?

Really like the 95 seats I must say ..Need to say I'm tall and thin so that matters on how a seat feels ..Only two bolts fit the holes right ..I just welds the seat tracks on the front holes ..Do to you would have to drill into a welded on nut thats on the seat ... The plastic seat skirt have no place to bolt to ..And it covers the fold works on the seat and hides them ..Easy to make to flat plates to mount to and weld on ...You get more leg room do to the way the 95 seat is made and the seat bolts 3/4 of a inch back on the 89 frame ..(But if your dumb anuff to bolt the seat mounts on 'wrong' and then weld them on like I did ..You loose 3/4 of a inch of leg room ...LOL.. But you still have more leg room then a stock 89 seat ...Anyone got seat sliders to sell me ...I chocked and welded them on wrong .. ..)

Now i'm using 95 "LS" seats ... JohnB was saying someing about "SR" seats may not work do to the fold of the seat ..?

John ..?

(Just to ask anyone one done six seats in a SWB...?)

Ill post again and tell you to look for my thread so you can see how I welded the folding seat bases to the wheel arches and then installed the seats. You can do the same thing in a short wheel base after you take the bench out. You can then mount the seat belt buckle pieces to the floor somehow and have functional folding seats. I was not saying to mount the seats behind the bench, just to mount them to the wells like I did and have them function properly.

Hey Haz, If you don't mind me asking, what color is your seat in your SWB. If it's brown and you don't have any other use for it, can I put my dibs on it. Hell even if isn't brown I still wanna put dib's on it. Yes I got those jump seats but I have two monty's and I like the solid bench for my beater.
