4M40 is the most practical easiest Diesel swap you can do, chances are you can find the complete engine, harness (not that you need it) and diesel trans with all the little things you need for around $3500 which is much less than what you'd be spending on any other swap especially since it's a near bolt in for you. there is a write up in the diesel tech section for swapping one into a Gen 2 and your swap would be nearly the same.
