So, no slag is bad? Also, the pictures are still huge...

I used to wonder why the welder's boots in the Sears Catalog had the fat flap over the laces. Then I welded and found out. Does make your hand jump, doesn't it...
Nice work. Want to weld up some intimidators for a green bean astro van?

My work boots have the met guards too, really keeps molten metal out better than my skateboard shoes i use for welding at home. Can anyone guess the weld process used?

No, but those are some sexy welds. Smooth, great curves in the right places, no excess anywhere it doesn't need to be. Definately NC-17.

Nice welds. Whatever you used it didn't use a shielding gas, so it's either stick or flux-core MIG...
When I was stick welding, it was kinda fun to see how long a slag blister you could make. But they can sure pop up all of a sudden, no?

When my buddy arc welded my winch plate to my bumper, the same thing happened and the slave came off in long whole pieces. He's a navy trained welder including high pressure qualified so I'm pretty sure his welding technique is ok and since yours looks the same I'd guess yours are fine too.

Mine does the same. This isn't MIG? That's very little spatter for flux-core, but I am happy to bow to Don's greater experience. I too think they are nice welds

It is dual shield 71M, Flux core with gas shielding. Same process used for building bridges, skyscrapers and heavy machinery. Eric's 175amp welder has to be maxed out to run it, It runs much smoother on my 350amp machine at work but i've been wanting to use it on a bumper build for a while now and i'm pretty happy with the results.

...close, but no cigar!
Those welds look like they came from a steady hand on a powerful machine: single pass, wide bead, no stitching pattern.
