I figured it was you Tainter, but I was not 100%. You did get that in the mail right?? I know it took an asslong time for me to get it to you. Any test fitting you can do would help greatly.

I rebuilt my 3.0 for around $1200. That includes boring the block.new pistons, rings, polishing the crank, new bearings, water pump, belts, idler pulleys & gaskets.

Your time has got to be worth something.I'm not saying not to swap.. but consider the headaches involved. I put a 4.3 V-6 & a turbo 350 tranny in a '77 monza. Ran like mad; just don't want to do it again....

Just food for thought..

Good luck!

I consider my time pretty much at a premium, but if its in the name of dicking off, then by god its worth dicking off as uniquely as possible. 2.6T but with all the goodies of a 89 plus SR rear and possible ARB front in the future.

My LWB is going to be a 3.5 DOHC, but the Montero runs great at the moment, and doesn't really require the swap right this minute. The Raider on the otherhand, I started it up the other day and it was smoking pretty bad and stunk like it never has before... That engine has definitely seen better days. If anything, the 2.6T would hold me until I can properly build a 3.0T

The 2.6T would also be a good test of how a TD engine would fit in the V6 frame. If I had unlimited money, I would buy a 2.8TD, but I am saving money for a DSM (Gen1 Talon, Eclipse, VR4 Galant)

I would presume the difference between the 2.6T and the near equivalent size diesel to be vastly different in driving habit. The turbo diesel will have more torque and return better fuel mileage. The turbo gasser will spin up faster, have more by-the-seat-of-the- feel, offer more auto-cross possibility due to longer range of rpm, and get 14-16 mpg.

Why not go 3.0T? You're already more than 3/4 way to that possibility.

I had a line on a VR4, but when I got there the engine was already spoken for. I would like to eventually go 3.0T, single turbo just for simplicity.

the swap won't be much more that any other 2.6T swap your just gonna need to cut off the frame mounts for the engine and reweld them so the 2.6 bolts on its not that bad.

Poor truck.. That's just terribly sad looking. Even has my old High school Parking pass on the rear view mirror.

I am not really gentle on trucks I tear down. I was actually very easy on her compared to the SR... I did check for personal objects in the truck, but besides a few broken CDs and dissolved papers their wasn't much left besides the parking pass.
