I searched and found nothing, I am heavily considering the idea of installing a 2.6T into my 3.0 Raider. I know I am losing 2 cylinders, but I believe the 2.6 has more grunt anyways. I have the engine on hand as it is, so I feel its worth a shot. Anyone do it yet?

I pondered this and did a bunch of research on it back when I was overhauling mine. Not many obstacles were found other than the typical engine swapping ones. DO IT!!!
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

I haven't really looked at the difference in engine mounts, but the transmission crossmembers are the same...as long as the trans is kept stick or auto, respectively. If you run into small things like accelerator cables and such, I have 2 parts cars for that.

I haven't heard of this swap being done before... Most of us 2.6'ers were desperate to get rid of the carb and vac lines.
However, having gone 4 to 6, going 6 to 4 will still have a few of the same concerns.
If the motor mounts line up, and are interchangeble between the 6 and the 4, then you will be fortunate! Remember, the output shaft from the 4 will need to allign perfectly with the trans input, or you'll be customising motor-mounts and/or trans mounts.
You'll need all the wiring from the 4 that comes out the passenger side firewall, and the computer that's under the airbox (above the passenger's feet). Wiring diagrams for both 6 and 4 will help.
You'll need the device boxes that line the 2.6's inner fender.
The radiators may not swap easily, and will need to if the coolant in/out hoses don't match.
Exhaust may not match up.
In the dash gauge console, the tach will need to be changed (or ignored...), and the fuel tank gauges are different and will need to be swapped, and even though both 4 and 6 gauge consoles use that same round connector, there are some wiring differences, including the high beam indicator. You will need the wiring diagrams for that one.
The air filters are in different places, and the 2.6 needs its filter on top. So the 6's remote filter can probably be left as an empty can. That way at least the air hose connects may be easier to do. Not a big issue though.
...off the top of my head.

I could believe it might have more HP, but you think it will have more bottom end than the 6? I know if I have any probs with the 2.6 I got from Eli, a 3.0 from something else will go in the Shogun.Plenty of availability on those at least. But if you are trail riding and mud slinging like in that one pic you posted, the turbo should do you well.

Don, he wants to turbo his Raider. But, some of the important things like gauges and the radiator do otherwise apply.

Russel, I must have missed that somewhere. Sounds even more complex then, since it will be a major modification on top of another major modification...

Well, lucky for me. I have EVERYTHING from 87Montero's rig. air box, ecu, wiring, etc etc. I am hoping to adapt as much of the Raiders existing hardware as possible (cruise, AC, etc) Only piece I need for the hardware would be a AT bellhousing (I sold that a while back to a guy on the wire, dammit ) 87Montero's old rusted rig (April 2009) Since I have pictures of a torn apart Montero, might as well give last respects to the SR that went to junktown last week... ![[Linked Image]](http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5111/29442210150869590505643.jpg)
