Need a Spot
Since I am a cheap bastard I want to hit some U-pull-it's and see if I can't find some manual hubs for my Gen II LS. My question is, what will fit? Are they fairly universal, or will this have to be a Monty/Paj specific thing and would I be better off forking out the cash for new ones? I appreciate the help.

You are looking for Mitsubishi-specific ones from early 80's Monteros and Mighty Max. They are made by Aisin.

cool, one last thing (maybe)...other than the hubs themselves is there anything else I need off the donor vehicle?

For what? Everything in the picture above is all that you need. There is a spring and some other internals but everything that fits in the hub is all you need for the hub swap. as far as anything else you may want in general, I have no clue. Besides hubs I can not think of anything else 1st gen to go into 2nd gen.

You're aware that the genII has constantly locked flanges, not auto hubs right? So you're not going to make anything 'stronger' by doing this. Only benefit you're going to get is the ability to unlock the front axle, allowing you run in 2WD-LO and maybe saving some wear/tear on your cv joints. Seems an odd thing for a cheap bastard to spend money on unless you really need 2-LO?

I am already in need of replacing the front drive on both sides, so I figured if I can find a set of manual hubs in a yard then it may be worth while to do. By all means if it is not worth doing I am open to opinions, that is why I am here.

For your purposes, the auto hubs, which are much, much, more common, will do just fine, and you don't get your feet muddy. Don't know if you can go from 2hi to 4hi and have the cad work and then the hubs lock up at 62mph (the 2hi to 4hi shift speed limit) without grenading the hubs, but they are fairly tough. They are a biotch to remove from a donor - the bolts round out. I use an allen socket and a breaker bar, and put it under unscrew tension short of round off, and whang the swivel of the breaker bar with a bfh to shock the fastener loose.
