That timing mark on the cam pulley will not be straight up at 12:00. I think it's supposed to be to the 11:30ish side.
You are correct, bright links aren't always necessary, but can be helpful.
Check the FSM at the top of the page for clarification.
I duplicated the web site for the '93 FSM on my laptop so I won't be without it.
