Ah, so everyone just assumed I had already tried peeing on it. Nope, I'm a Florida transplant. Not sure what the Floridians do though...sprinkle cockroaches? I'll go ahead and pee on the lawnmower while I'm at it.

I have read codes on my ECU using the LED method. It is giving the code for "Throttle Position Sensor / Idle
Position Switch / Harness and Connector". Besides harness, I can't see any of these causing a no-spark, and if there was some harness/connector issue I would think I'd be getting some weird symptoms somewhere in my many test results. What do you think?

OK, I'll dive into the dizzy swap when it stops raining. Since I'm feeling less motivated right now, I'll try Metal Mover's ether trick first.

As for my other post, I feel I have the ECU installed correctly, I'm just reaching at this point for anything. I'm not 100% sure I have that ground wire attached to the right place--currently its going to the chassis, which is probably right.

Thanks guys!

Hmmm. IPS/harness connector? I wonder if the spark signal goes thru the same harness connector? I'll do some wiring diagram research and post back.

OK, I'm back. The tps and dizzy sensor signals all go thru the largest ecu connector. I'd pull the connector and check for bent pins or wires pushed out of the connector.

Alrighty, I have my daughter home sick with me so I haven't been as productive as I hoped.

I pulled the ecu and checked the pins and wires on both ends of the ecu connectors. Did not see anything that looked funny. I went ahead and cleaned them. No change.

I tried the ether trick and, by God, she did sputter a bit. It wasn't much, but there was life. Is that enough to say its a fuel issue?

Or did she just turn into a diesel momentarily?

Next step is dizzy unless you guys think I should pursue the fuel thing.

I'd check the fuel situation. If you need to access it, the v6 fuel pump is inside the tank and very easily reachable through the access panel in the cargo floor. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Off-Roader. I ruled the pump out earlier (not that I'd expect anyone to read through 7 pages of thread for that. But I check it via the test plug in the engine bay (wire straight from batt+ to test connector...you could hear steady whirring from pump.) I even went as far as to pull the pump out and watch it shoot fuel from one bucket to another. It seemed like a strong and steady "stream" but I have no basis for comparison.

Anything else it could be on the fuel side? I recently dumped some 93 octane and some octane booster into the tank, but some proportion of the fuel could be 6-8months old.

Take the fuel line loose form the fuel rail, under/behind the throttle body, and see if that line squirts, too. That puts you downstream from the filter to see if it's plugged.

However, before we go off haring after fuel, if you pull a plug wire and crank the truck with a screwdrive in the wire end and the driver shaft held 1/4" from engine metal, do you see spark?

Did you check the other harness connectors under the hood? It may not be a bad idea to open them up, check them and spray some anti-corrosive on them.

Have you tried trying to crank the engine at night? There may be a short at or past the coil. In the dark, you can see the arcing that is difficult to see during daylight.

Ok.

Calling it a night...

Cranking in the dark revealed no arching that I could see.

Cleaned a few harness connectors. Can't hurt.

I did not remove the high pressure fuel line, bc I can feel fuel entering the rubber section of the hose immediately before the rail inlet. I figured that was good enough for at least ruling out clog between pump and engine. If I go back to fuel I'll see if I can rent a fuel pressure check setup, but I feel like it's probably fine.

I redid the check for spark from the dizzy wire to chassis via screwdriver and confirmed no spark. I even bought a silly spark plug checker as a backup and it showed no spark.

FastEddy, I studied your instructions on dizzy swap and also read through the manual about the procedure and what's happening and feel like I've got a decent handle on it so that's next. Hopefully tomorrow morning or evening.

Thanks everybody.

Hey everybody. Did the dizzy swap. I think it went well. No hiccups. Everything lined up very well.

Unfortunately no difference. All I did was try to crank it. The baby woke up before I could test for spark. Somethin' tells me I'm not going to see it.

grrrrrrrrrrrrr............

No spark at the plug wires.

Spent naptime cleaning any connectors I could find. No difference.

I'm officially stumped.
