I have had this ongoing issues with my 88 SWB Raider. When I fill the gas tank the fuel gauge will read full, but the gauge falls much faster than the fuel level. By about 90 miles the gauge reads fully empty, though I generally go a bit past 250 miles on the trip odometer before I refill the tank. It's not huge deal and the trip odometer approach has been working for the last two years, just wouldn't mind fixing the issue if it's not an expensive fix.

I was leaning toward the fuel sending unit as the culprit and have seen them for about forty bucks shipped. That seems OK, but I prefer refurbishing the old stuff on this Raider.

Assuming it is the fuel sending unit, any thoughts on what I would be looking at replacing or fixing on the existing one? I would like to have the suspect components in my hands for a quick turn around fix. Or should I just plan on buying a new one?

Or... what else could it be? I'm open to suggestions here.

Thanks.
