This may be related to this Ooops I had... I left my parking lights on several times in the last 2 weeks, once for 2 hours and the other night for 4 hours. Now I notice that my battery isn't charging. How did I notice that? I went up the highway thinking it just needed a run up the highway(I am working 1.5 miles from home)On the way up, I noticed that it would not downshift... and on the turnaround and heading home, started to backfire... so it's not charging. With the size of the battery it may have been a problem since back when I left the key on. Where is the main relay Dave? I charged up the battery and started up, then pulled the neg cable off... engine died... Any easy out? Relay? Where is the voltage regulator? Am I doomed to find a new alternator? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I'd start with the battery/alternators. Most local parts stores will check your battery/alternator for you for free. Kragen/Oreily's, Autozone, & Pep Boys do anyway. Not sure what stores you have in your area.

Yesss Ray, I checked!

I was/am hoping it fixes itself since an alt will break me.

If it is an alternator, see if you can find a replacement at a local parts yard or check the cost to rebuild yours at a local rebuilder. Both are cheaper than a new one.
