Thinking of running the Cleghorn trail in S.Cal. Tyson said he's going. Carlos is looking at his calendar and upcoming family events to confirm.

Any other takers? Michael? Bruno? Jason?

Any preference on the dates? I'm off Friday to Monday of that weekend (Dec 30 - Jan 2).

There is already snow on Cleghorn. Have you been on the trail that leads over and along the San Andreas Fault? Just north of Devore, southwest of Cleghorn Trail.

I am having a talk with Santa about this trip, but if there's even a slight chance of snow I'm breaking off the talk.

This is LA snow melts quick, plus Cleghorn elevation is low, the thing to worry about is mud and fog.

Mike they make these new fangled things called Jackets. Works wonders in cold weather .

Before I forget, Steve & Nick are also both going although in just one rig this time. With Carlos & Michael that's 4 on here.

I have 5-6 more going as well who aren't on here.

Should be a good trip.

I think we'll run the Cleghorn on January 1st (Hangover Avoidance Run).

Russell do you happen have gps coordinates (.gpx format) for the trail route? What's the trail called? We may run it as well.

You all go ahead and have fun. I have family commitments over the Holidays and won't be able to join in.

My holiday plans definitely include nursing a hangover on more than one occasion

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

gps coordinates

34?16'6.66"N
117?27'45.30"W

Ray, these coordinates were derived from Google Earth. Type in Lost Lake, CA and you'll find the road, just south of the Cleghorn / I-15 intersection. Lost Lake is a sag pond located directly on the Fault. I don't know the name of the road, sorry. This was part of my undergrad mapping. The trail is a two-track that connects Lone Pine Road to the Devore area. I'm not aware of any passing restrictions, but it has been 18 years since my last visit.

I have the US Forest Map for San Bernardino Mountains, lists all the forestry roads by number. If you need, I could send it to you.

Sounds like fun. I have to check the family calendar first though. Thanks for the call Ray, and yes it was some weird out of the country ring. I don't answer the phone because it's $2 per minute and I'm in india training my replacements. I'll let you know closer to the 16th when I get back to the U.S.

It's not as bad as it sounds. I still have a job, just in another part of the company.
