Here is the stuff I used http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinylFabricCoating. It has a good adhesion factor to it, so you don't need to use any kind of primer , and they say it won't crack , peel or chip. They have done all kinds of projects using it on car interiors from the dash to the seat with good results. as far as direct sunlight , I am sure it is like any dash , etc that after long term exposure it will eventually change color , but it is cheap and easy to do , so even if it does fade after a few years , can always buy a couple more cans and do it again.As far as I know there isn't too much out there that won't fade with years of exposure to UV. Could always use a protection coating like armor all to reduce UV exposure , but I am not that worried about it , the tire carrier will be in the back as well as the cargo cover , and I do have tinted windows in the back also;) I will keep an eye on it and let you know about any noticeable changes.
