Does the cold start injector have a spray pattern like the main injectors, or does it pour out like water out of a hose?

I am trying to hunt down a starting issue with an '85 22re engine. The timing is set correctly at 5* BTDC, I have spark, and the fuel pump works. Thinking the CS injector could be bad I pulled it to clean it. It will cycle on off and when on fuel will come out, but it doesn't spray out, it pours out. If the csi is supposed to pour and not spray, my starting issue is somewhere else.

History: engine blown HG but good it did run before I rebuilt the top end. I rebuilt the head, new t-chain, valve adjustment, new plugs, cleaned the injectors, etc.
