Need a Spot
Hi Ya'll,

I'm new here, sorry if this has been covered. I'm in need of a new thermostat and fan clutch for my import 4JB1-T. Does anyone know where to get these in the states? Seems like I can get the thermostat out of a Mustang skid steer with the same engine, (if it is truly the same engine?) The fan clutch I've had less success in finding. Are there any aftermarket options here? or possibly parts from a different domestic Isuzu engine that would work?

Thanks for your help!

hi an welcome! Have you ever thought of using an electric fan setup? you can either wire them up so you control them manually, or you can buy an automatic kit for around 80-100 bucks. diesels dont run very hot unless there pulling a load or are spinning high rpms at low vehicle speed. I have a silverado with the duramax, and i NEVER hear the fan come on, even when im pulling an 18K pound 5th wheel camper. only time it comes on is when im pulling a heavy load and i have to stop at a redlight. getting rid of that fan clutch will cut down on power your engine is wasting, therefore more mpg's

Hey thanks for the reply!! I did consider an electric fan, but was able to find a thermostat and fan clutch for this engine. So, to answer my own question, the 1987 (USA) trooper with the 2.2 diesel has the same thermostat and fan clutch as my 1992 (Japan) 4jb1-t. I installed both and back to normal!

Thanks for your help though!
