Got news from Matty, Marlin will only do a minimum of 250 crawler boxes. They said the Mitsu market is too small. Damn.

I've got something else up my sleeve. don't worry guys.

250, huh? Well, I only have one.

So, you're saying there's a chance... (Dumb and Dumber, paraphrased)

Hahahaha I remember that part hahaha

On a side note, still haven't heard back from Mark. Ian has better luck than I have had so far. They must like you Ian lol. As soon as I get info, prices, shipping cost & time frame, ill post it so we can start this group buy.

Toasty, what else did you have in mind? I'm afraid that even tho your option may be better, it will probably involve more customization & cost?

I haven't got a minimum order on this yet but they are willing and do have my dimensions with pictures of what i want made. I would probably need some help getting these guys some parts but i talked to Sumner machine in Kansas about making us up an adapter plate to bolt up any 6bolt round T-case directly to the Gen 2 AW3. So you'd just need to figure out your speedo, shifter and driveshafts. The cost would probably be about $400 each so it wouldn't be any cheaper than Aussie gears in the end but you could do more with it (doublers, eliminate slipyokes, 4:1, more center clearnace).
You could potentially build your own setup on the cheap.

To give you an idea what i'm talking about here is one they make for a GM turbo 400 to GM 203

Not a bad idea. But how much work on our end would it need? Or what parts would we need for it to work? A doubler would he nice, how difficult would it be to get everything to work like you mentioned?

On a side note: I still haven't received Ana email from Mark. Ian, you talked to them already?

The biggest issue which is not that big is to get a crossmember set up for the doubler, but once you have a layout of one it can be duplicated.

Never had a special crossmember on mine. I've heard that it's recommended but not really necessary. I see if I can dig up the thread on Pirate where this is discussed.

Edit: here it is clik

The crossmember thing is negligible on a montero i think, The 3.5L SR T-case weighs more than 2 standard T-cases and it's larger than 2 lengthwise. So really the only additional stress comes from the extra gearing but you'd have to be kinda asking for trouble pushing 8000RPM's with 10.something to 1 T-case ratio.

How did you set yours up using the factory crossmember?

I guess I should of said it this way. The challenging part would be modifing or building a crossmember and the mounts for the tcases. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the link

The trans attaches to the cross-member just like it's supposed to, although the ends have been modified to bolt to the inside of the frame instead of under to clear the radius arms. Nothing structurally connects the cases to the frame directly. I don't remember exactly what I did to get the jeep tail housing to bolt to the mitsu trans mount, but I think it was minor.
