Ray, did I ever CC you on the last email to mark? Checking in to see if anyone on this board has talk to him recently?

Haven't heard from Ian either just to get some feedback to see if I can contact Mark in any other way

Angelo, no you didn't. Only one I have was titled 'My email address'. Have you checked your spam filter in case it got caught there? I can try and ring Mark today as well if you don't have anything there either.

I'll also try and contact Ian to see if he wants to meet up when I'm there. His last post was on the 10th he may be busy with other stuff.

His profile shows he's in Braidwood which is about an hour from Canberra so I'm hoping we may get to meet up when I'm there.

Ray

Hi Angelo,

I really dont know whats going on with Hardmanns or Marks 4wd.

As I mentioned a while ago I have spoken with Lee Hardmann (marks brother) & also to the guys at Marks 4WD. They all say the gears are going to be restocked again.

Frank Zanetti aka MisterBishi (on this forum) or Bitsamissin on:http://www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum

is your best bet, he knows Mark personally.

Also I note that Ray is coming to Oz soon & was hoping to catch up with Mark in Melbourne.

cheers

Afraid there won't be too much catching up as Melbourne will be the busiest city for me. I've got dinner with one client the evening we arrive, then 6 onsite client meetings the following day plus a lunch for another client then on to Canberra.

If anything we may be able to meet for drinks that evening from 5:00-5:30 but will have to play that by ear since our last meeting could also go longer than expected.

FWIW, I have been able to contact Marks Adapters via phone at 011 61 3 9702 7366. I've also been able to contact Hardman Bros 011 61 3 9551 5566. That's exactly how you need to dial it. 011 switches the call to an international call versus domestic. 61 is the country code for Australia. 3 is the prefix for Victoria where they're located.

When I spoke with them previously they said they had responded to ALL email requests including yours.

Not sure where the communication failure is so I suggest ringing them up. At most the call shouldn't cost more than a few dollars unless you call them with your cell phone in which case it will be a few dollars per minute versus for the entire call. Yup, seen that. Avoided it. More than Happy to advise on it.

HTH.

I checked my spam folder just to be sure it wasn't going there, nothing there. I'll just keep trying emails & see. Not very good with calling long distance and no, it's not the charge I'm worried about haha.

Has anyone talked to their shop recently?

I called and spoke with the guys at Marks 4WD adapters last night and also got confirmation emails from them on my gears being shipped.

FYI... They are off all of next week for Easter so don't expect anything until the week after.

As I mentioned in my Australia trip thread I'd be willing to ring them for you in a couple of weeks to help iron things out. I can confirm that currently the gears are still being cut and definitely not ready to sell yet.

Along those lines I learned from discussions with Frank/MisterBishi that Mark Hardeman (gear cutter) told Frank that the cutting of the gears also requires the shop to heat treat them afterwards in order to increase their strength to acceptable levels. This heat treating results in the metal shrinking. They have to go through numerous R&D gear sets before they can reliably determine the original starting size of the pre-milled metal so the the finished product is the right size every time.

That said, Mark could make bigger R&P gears but we'd have to buy enough to cover the cost of the R&D process. I SERIOUSLY doubt there are enough buyers (probably need well over 100) to make the project cost effective & profitable for him. SIGH...
