Guys, has anyone checked out these people. http://northwestfab.3dcartstores.com/NWF-BlackBox-Underdrive-Unit_c_13.htmlA setup that would retain the standard low but give you the option of doubling it would be great. There are times when my 3.15 is just too low & times when its not enough!. I have a spare tranny/case & I pulled the case off. It seems to be larger than the doubler unit, but maybe some adaptors could be made. I had a look under the Paj as well. , does anyone reckon there is room to put in a doubler?? It would mean the Mistu case sits back further approx 8" (more with adaptors). The problem would be the crossmember that holds the torsion bar mounts. The attractive thing about putting an underdrive between the tranny & Mistu case is that you get to keep the Super Select (Active-Track for you guys) & dont have to worry about speedo stuff, BUT shafts would have to be lenghtened & shortened. The autos in our Gen 2.5 have 23 splines so would seem to be compatiable with the above unit. BTW they are very well priced., Just a thought.

Just got back an email from Paul (works at Marks) just informed me that they aren't producing the 3.15's anymore, they changed the ratio to 2.7's. They were having too much modiifcations issues that needed to be done to the case to make the 3.15's work. Are 2.7's still a decent crawl?
He will send me over pricing soon between group buy & individual

I haven't got a minimum order on this yet but they are willing and do have my dimensions with pictures of what i want made. I would probably need some help getting these guys some parts but i talked to Sumner machine in Kansas about making us up an adapter plate to bolt up any 6bolt round T-case directly to the Gen 2 AW3. So you'd just need to figure out your speedo, shifter and driveshafts. The cost would probably be about $400 each so it wouldn't be any cheaper than Aussie gears in the end but you could do more with it (doublers, eliminate slipyokes, 4:1, more center clearnace). You could potentially build your own setup on the cheap. To give you an idea what i'm talking about here is one they make for a GM turbo 400 to GM 203 ![[Linked Image]](http://www.sumnermachine.com/sumnerimages/adapter-custom.jpg) Toasty, but doesnt the NP 231 bolt up to the Mitsu tranny already??

Not to the Gen 2 without the jeep transmission tailhousing. The above adapter concept would allow for the 6 bolt round cases to be fit directly to the Gen 2 transmission, so there would be no need for a modified pulse ring and it would be better at carrying the weight of dual cases. The mitsu is designed to carry a heavy case and the Jeep is not (not that there have been any issues).
The adapter i will have to RE submit to a local shop, Sumner Machine hosed on the project likely due to me being out of state. I also might just have to make a prototype myself and just have it copied to ensure it's correct the first time. That could take some time....

As mentioned on Rays tread... I would really like to get the 3.15 gears over the 2.7 gears. This is just not a good business decision in my opinion because the people who would be most likely to buy these gears would gladly make the mods necessary to make the gears fit. This really effects the crawl ratio.
Stock 1.9*2.8*4.63 = 25:1 New Crawler Gears 2.7*2.8*4.63 = 35:1 Old Crawer Gears 3.15*2.8*4.63 = 41:1 Just looking at the numbers, it's not extremely bad, closer to the 3.15 ratio than to the stock ratio. Of course not as good tho. Maybe for a reduced price, may be worth a look. Ray, you extremely LUCKY SOB!!! Got the last one im assuming?

Ray, you extremely LUCKY SOB!!! Got the last one im assuming? Yeah, I think so. I should have also bought a lottery ticket. Then if I had won, I would have bought you all the 3.15:1 gears LOL

I'm just surprised nothing was said or even slightly hinted to you or the 4x4 world that they were even thinking of doing this change.
What's even more surprising, is that when I spoke with Mark over a month ago originally, we were talking about 3.15 gears thw whole time. Then some Elliot fellow has emailed me recently telling me that it's been changed to 2.7. Weird!

With all the moaning and groaning aside, the 2.85's are great in the underpowered Gen 1. I crawled right through the dusy loaded to the hilt with two passengers and camping gear to accomodate the wife and daughter. I would think 2.7's would be nice improvement for the more powerfull SR which can go through the Con and other tough trails with the stock T-case gears...
